Tales for Tots: Fox and Squirrel Make A Friend

November 24, 2014momstownPreschooler, ToddlersNo comments
This month’s Tales for Tots was sponsored by Scholastic Canada and we read a wonderful book about friendship and including everyone. We read Fox and Squirrel Make a Friend by Ruth Ohi.

Fox and Squirrel are the best of friends. But when Yellow Bird comes along, he and Squirrel frolic high up in the treetops where Fox can’t reach. Fox feels like Squirrel doesn’t need him anymore. Can Squirrel help Fox see that there’s room in their friendship for another?

Ruth Ohi delivers another irresistible story about the adventures of two lovable friends, and we learn about friendship, loyalty, and acceptance.

When Squirrel meets Yellow Bird Fox starts to feel left out because he can not do all of the things that Squirrel and Yellow Bird can do together, but Squirrel loves his friend and knows how important he is.

Since the chracters liked to climb and play in the trees we made our own painted trees with finger print leaves. We decided to go with fall colours and made our finger print leaves red, yellow and orange.

We had lots of fun reading about Fox and Squirrel and making our trees! Maddison won the book and was very excited to take it home to read.
