Mighty Dads is mighty good

This months Tales for Tots was sponsored by Scholastic and we read a wonderful book just in time for fathers day. It was called Mighty Dads by Joan Holub. If you do not know that name you should, she is the writer behind the Pete the Cat books. I was very excited to see if Mighty Dads would be just as good and it was. The story was all about construction machine dads and their kids.
It had beautifully, coloured illustrations by James Dean.

From the moment it started the kids were all engaged as they wanted to see the different machines. There was a lot rhyming which they loved and there was lots of fun noises to read. It was all written in a very sing song like way – just like Pete the Cat.

Our winner of the book was so happy he won, I was too because I think if he hadn't won he would have just taken the book since he loved it so much.

After we read the book we made some  special father day cards that read,

You are the best Dad….. hands down

And it had two upside down hand prints that we made with different coloured paint.

It was a great book to read and share just before fathers day.
