For our Contes pour les bouts d’choux this month it was sponsored by Scholastic Canada and we read a book about two little friends who met a new friend. The book was called Rikki, Rouquin et Rocco by Ruth Ohi. We have read Ruth’s books in the past and have loved them, this one was very cute as well. It had fun, bright pictures for the kids to follow and a great lesson about friendship.

Rikki and Rouquin are two friends who are very different. They try to do things the same but one is a squirrel and one is a fox. Squirrel makes a new friend, yellow bird and fox feels left out.
Some of the French words we learnt were
Arbre – Tree
Oiseau – Bird
Jaune – Yellow
Grimper – climb
For a craft we made our own arbres and added some ripped paper to make colourful leaves for the fall time. The preschoolers loved the sensory activity of ripping the paper and glueing.
We had a great time and sang some songs. Baby Olive won the book and was very happy to take it home.
