French Book for January – Pyjama Day

This month for our French Book club it was sponsored by Scholastic Canada and we read a very fun book Journee Pyjama. It is written by the ever popular Robert Munsch and illustrated By Michael Martchenko. Everyone loved reading this book. Like other Robert Munsch books it had some wonderfull characters in it and a funny story line with a bit of a twist at the end.

The book was all about Andre who was a having a pyjama day at school, his pyjamas were old and too small so he needed to buy some new ones. His father took him to the store and he tried a few stores until he found the “perfect pyjamas”.

There pyjamas were almost a little too perfect because when Andre put them on, he fell asleep right in class and no one could wake him up.

Luckily the school called Andre's mom and she knew exactly what to do, what happens after that made everyone laugh!

This story had a lot of words for our none French speakers but like most Robert Munshc books the pictures are so fun and creative and we knew what was going on. Also the way Robert Munsch using the repetitive vocabulary makes it easy and fun for kids and parents to follow alone.

After we finish the book we made some cute slippers. We started with foam sheets and cut them out to a shape just bigger than our feet. On one side we made a large hole to put our feet in. On top the slippers we put stickers, confetti, sparkles and even some cotton balls to make them fuzzy. Once they were done we could slip them on and walk around in our new slippers.

We finish the day with singing some songs and one lucky friend even got to take a book home!
