A dietician, who is familiar with what we do at momstown in Belleville, has given us insight into a new on-line (and free!) video series called "Raising Our Healthy Kids".
The videos were created for parents, health care providers, child care workers and agencies, teachers, hospital waiting rooms, and other people interested in raising healthy children.
The videos are short (60-90 seconds), and aim at providing information to parents and care providers on healthy growth and development of children up to 12 years of age.
The first 25 videos are available online now, free of charge, and focus on healthy eating and the feeding relationship. Further topics which will be available in the future, will focus on active living and play, positive parenting, oral health, and mental health promotion. There will also be videos that provide an Aboriginal context and some will be translated into French.
I took a peek at the videos, and was pleasantly surprised to see that they covered such a wide range of topics, from healthy eating to temper tantrums, and from typical development to understanding feelings.
